Voices Anthology

Yup, we launched the Voices Anthology at the last Seksan Readings... very encouraged by the response, it was an excellent day.

The Underground will be planning a poetry performance / open mic session titled Underground: Aboveground! -- probably in Jan, as we'll be participating in a poetry session organised by Sheena, in conjunction with the international conference on language and literature; that's happening November 25th.

More updates to come.. I know we've been promising to update and housekeep the blog, but we've all been tied up and down and trussed everywhich way... Reza with Instant Cafe's Kurang Manis (it was excellent, I laughed so much!), Hazlan with the web news/current affairs portal, me with the book; Cat, Sheena & Evanna with study, and George & Mooza with Fallen Leaves community theatre.

Hm. :)

Let's Get Dirty!

Poetry Underground will be making an appearance at Project Connect's This is Now Happening. An interactive media and arts celebration that allows participants and artist to get involved, interpreting art as it is being performed and created.

Hearsay: they're going to cover the entire interior of Dram Projects with paper, and we'll be able to paint the whole place (red) that night!

This Is Now Happening: An Interactive Art Playground
Sunday, May 10th 2008
7-10pm
The Dram Projects, Block B, Happy Mansion, Jalan 17/13, PJ
Admission by donation: RM12
Need directions? Check out the map to Food Foundry, a cafe located right beside Dram Projects. They sell absolutely fabulous French cakes.

Paint, perform, and create along to music and poetry. Or just use it as an excuse to muck around with body paint.

This is Now Happening is a fund-raising event for Project Connect. Check out their website for greater details.

-- WordWright

Poetry Underground is an informal collective of poets who are not averse to performing poetry. We are currently based in the Klang Valley and meet fornightly. We believe in Public Access Poetry: bringing poetry out of its sacred pages and into the bars, cafes, and even right out on the streets. This blog exists to keep a record of where we've been and what we're doing, as well as update the public on where we'll be heading next.

Since we've started coming together we've done a street performance, competed in slams, semi-crashed a readings session, and had several workshops. We now have a regular slot at Sharon Bakar's Readings @ Seksan's, and we'll be coming up with an anthology of our work pretty soon.

Interested in joining us, or just want to know what the fuss is about? Check out our base on Facebook: Poetry Underground.
